Kevin Martir, Brandon Lowe, Kevin Smith and Anthony Papio each had two hits and Jose Cuas and Nick Cieri both drove in a pair to lead the offensive charge for the Terps. Cieri’s two-run double off the wall in center was the decisive blow, bringing home two runs and giving the Terrapins a 5-2 lead.

The Terps had two home runs on the day. Anthony Papio’s solo shot in the fourth gave Maryland a 3-2 lead before Cieri extended it on the double. The second homer came when Jamal Wade connected on his first career home run in the eighth, opening up the lead to 12-3.

“It felt pretty great,” Wade said. “I’ve been hitting the ball pretty hard every at bat so far, so to finally get one to fall and it happened to be a home run, it was pretty special.”

Bobby Ruse (4-0) earned the win, allowing one earned run on two hits over five innings. Ruse struck out eight and walked only two.

Tayler Stiles entered the game with two runners in scoring position in a 6-3 game in the sixth and struck out Danny Baer on three pitches to maintain the lead. Zach Morris and Rob Galligan added scoreless innings of relief to hold the lead.

Maryland will head to North Carolina to take on Elon (8-9) Wednesday and Thursday. Both games will be at 4pm and can be heard on the Maryland Baseball Network.
