UCF hands Terps their first loss of 2015

UCF handed Maryland its first loss of 2015 as the No. 22 Knights (6-0) defeated No. 13 Maryland (4-1) 7-6 at Stanky Field in Mobile, Alabama Saturday.

The Terps rallied for two runs and four hits in the ninth, but left the bases loaded. Maryland stranded twelve runners on the afternoon.

UCF freshman Cre Frinfrock (2-0) held Maryland to two runs and four hits over five and two-thirds innings to earn the win. Freshman Kyle Marsh earned the save despite giving up three straight singles in the final frame.

Maryland starter Tayler Stiles (0-1) was roughed up for five runs on eight hits over four innings and took the loss. Bobby Ruse allowed two runs in the seventh.

Robert Galligan was the bright spot for the Maryland staff, pitching two shutout innings while striking out four. Alex Robinson and Taylor Bloom also pitched well out of the bullpen.

Tommy Williams was the offensive star for the Knights, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Leadoff hitter Dylan Moore had three hits and three runs scored.

The Terrapins (4-1) will take on No. 28 Arkansas (3-1) Sunday morning at 11 a.m. before heading home from Alabama. The Razorbacks offer a radio broadcast which can be heard here.
