The Maryland Terrapins (18-15, 4-2 Big Ten) are tied for fourth place in the Big Ten Conference and sitting three games above .500 for the first time this season following a three-game sweep of the Ohio State Buckeyes (19-11, 2-4 Big Ten) in College Park, Maryland. With dynamic pitching and limited, but clutch hitting, the Terps won all three nail-biters at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium over the weekend.
This week, the Terps head south to Richmond, Virginia for a mid-week matchup with the Richmond Spiders (17-14, 4-5 Atlantic 10) and northwest to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a weekend conference series with the Minnesota Golden Gophers (18-10, 4-1 Big Ten), who are second in the Big Ten Conference standings.
The Terps climbed 20 spots in the RPI rankings this week and are currently positioned at 49. The team did not receive votes in any top-25 polls. Minnesota is ranked 20 and Richmond is ranked 203 in RPI. Both opponents remain unranked in all other polls.
