OF LaMonte Wade has gotten off to a scorching start with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The 9th Round draft pick is batting .395 and had a 10-game hitting streak, including five multi-hit games. His streak came to an end this afternoon when he went 0-4 vs. the Burlington Bees. Take a look at game-by-game statistics over the last 10 games
Wade is ranked 27th in the Twins’ organizational prospect rankings according to MLB Pipeline, right behind another former Terp, LHP Alex Robinson. He’ll start his season later this spring with the Elizabeton Twins.
After spending his entire professional career in the New York Mets organization, LHP Adam Kolarek is now with the Tampa Bay Rays organization as a member of the Montgomery Biscuits. In three appearances with the AA team, Kolarek is has a 3.60 ERA (5 IP).

LHP Jimmy Reed, who made it up to AAA last season, will be sidelined in 2016 after Tommy John surgery last week. He had the surgery at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Reed becomes the second pro-Terp to undergo Tommy John surgery, the other being former Terps LHP Eric Milton, who had the procedure in 2007.
Down in Myrtle Beach, RHP Jake Stinnett is off to a solid start. In two starts, he’s 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA. Opponents are batting just .179 against him in 11.0 IP. Stinnett is ranked as the 21st best prospect in the Cubs’ organization according to MLB Pipeline.
Both Jose Cuas and Brandon Lowe have gotten off to slow starts this season. Cuas is batting just .160 with the Brevard County Manatees, and Lowe is hitting .172 with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
After a strong Spring Training that included an addition to the Major League roster for one game, Jake Drossner has struggled to start 2016, losing all three of his starts and posting a 7.45 ERA.
Justin Maxwell opted-out of a minor-league contract with the Miami Marlins after not being added to the Major League roster. The journeyman outfielder signed a minor-league deal with the Boston Red Sox, and has recorded a .250 average in 11 games with the Pawtucket Red Sox.
