Maryland Baseball Network is counting down to Opening Day! Today marks 33 days until the start of the 2017 season, so here’s a look at #33, Ryan Fecteau.

RYAN FECTEAU | 33
Position: Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Hometown: Gilmanton, N.H.
Previous School: Bryant University
Alma Mater: Saint Anselm College
About Ryan: Ryan Fecteau joins the Maryland coaching staff as its new pitching coach after an impressive six-year stint with Bryant University in the same role. He will also serve as recruiting coordinator for the Terps. In his six seasons at Bryant, Fecteau’s staffs led the Northeast Conference in ERA four times and six Bryant pitchers were drafted.
The Gilmanton, N.H. native inherits a Maryland pitching staff that featured strong starting pitching in 2016 but a young bullpen that struggled to find consistency throughout the spring. Maryland finished last season with a team ERA of 3.80, ranking seventh in the Big Ten. Fecteau will look to replicate the success he found at Bryant, presumably starting with Taylor Bloom and Brian Shaffer, the two workhorses of Maryland’s staff. Bloom and Shaffer pitched a combined 206 innings and eight complete games in 2016.
Prior to coaching at Bryant, Fecteau also served as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence, USC Upstate and Southern Utah University, as well as as a summer ball manager in Virginia’s Valley League. He played collegiately at Saint Anselm, where he finished his career as the all-time leader in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts. In his final career start against American Institute College, Fecteau threw the school’s first ever no-hitter.
