Rankings Update: Week of 5/29

After losing their last four regular season series, the Maryland Terrapins limped into the Big Ten tournament. The Terps  (37-21, 15-9 Big Ten) lost their opening contest to Iowa, 9-8, but then defeated Purdue, Nebraska and Northwestern, staving off elimination three times to make it to the tournament semifinals. Needing just one win to make an appearance in the Big Ten championship game, the Terps fell 6-5 to Northwestern Sunday. The loss denied Maryland a chance to play for a Big Ten title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Losing in the Big Ten semifinals kept the Terps out of the rankings again this week, and despite a solid 34 RPI, a shakeup in other conference tournaments around the country leaves Maryland on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.

With the NCAA Tournament selection show coming up at 12 p.m. Monday, the Terps will soon find out their postseason fate.
