Series Preview: Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Dirty Terps are headed to Rutgers for their final road series of the year.

Maryland comes into the series fresh off of a midweek win against Towson, but is also looking to avenge its most recent Big Ten series sweep against Michigan. Rutgers is currently the last team in for the Big Ten tournament, with the Terps three games behind the Scarlet Knights entering the series.

The series starts on Friday at Bainton Field. Here’s what to know about the host.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights (22-26, 9-15 Big Ten)

Last Season

Rutgers had a mediocre season in 2025, going 29-28 and 15-15 in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knight finished 10th in the Big Ten in 2025 and beat Indiana in the Big Ten tournament before losing to Iowa in pool play.

Rutgers won its series with Maryland last season, winning the first game 6-4 and the second game 9-4. The Dirty Terps won the series finale 13-11.

This Season

This season, the Scarlet Knights have taken a step back as they are currently four games below .500 on the year and six games below .500 in conference. Rutgers is also coming off of a four game losing streak, most recently being swept by USC.

Regardless, the Scarlet Knights are currently in the Big Ten tournament, currently being the last team in.
