Opening day is 25 days away. Hard to believe it with two feet of snow on the ground, but we’re almost there. Today we begin counting you down, with player profiles, a look back at the 2015, and a preview of what’s to come this year.
We start with Pat Hisle. A junior from local Bethesda, Maryland and Whitman High School, Pat is a versatile, steady handed infielder who can handle the bat. He laid down three sacrifices in 16 plate appearances and doubled as well. In game two of the Super Regionals last season, he replaced Brandon Lowe following an injury and made a highlight reel defensive play at second base.
Players on the team were kind enough to fill out a questionnaire, so here’s what Pat had to say about baseball and beyond…
Favorite baseball memory: growing up was playing everyday in the backyard with my Dad
Why he chose Maryland: Maryland was a no brainer, growing up nearby I grew up rooting for the Terps and it meant my parents could come watch all my games.
Favorite Maryland Baseball memory: beating top ranked UCLA in the Regionals
Goal for this season: Personally I want to help the team win in whatever way I can
Favorite teammate: Tough decision, its a toss up between Andrew Bechtold and Sunny D (Nick Dunn)
Pregame playlist: any kind of 90’s rap is usually on my pregame playlist
Hobbies: Just playing any kind of sports, basketball and golf especially. Also, video games, especially Gamecube. NBA Street and Mario Kart are personal favorites.
Favorite place to eat around campus: Chipotle
Guilty pleasure TV show: Right now it’s That 70’s Show
Dream job (outside of playing baseball): Real Estate Agent
