About Marty: As a freshman in 2016, Marty Costes put up impressive offensive numbers that earned him 2016 CBN/Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and 2016 Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors. The Terps’ left fielder led the team and all Big Ten freshmen in home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. The biggest hit of his freshman season was a two-run homer (video below) which propelled the Terps to a 3-0 victory over Indiana in the Big Ten tournament. Costes was strong defensively too, sporting a .978 fielding percentage and leading all Maryland outfielders with four assists on the season. He continued his hot streak into the summer with the Baltimore Redbirds of the Cal Ripken League, where he again led the team in home runs and RBI.
